Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their sale of Cast & OTM Cattle on Monday. 

Topping the sale at £1,615.09 was a 746kg Limousin cross cow which made 216.5p/kg from Messrs Atkinson, Abbey Park, Bleatarn and was bought by Owain Llyr, Ruthin.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm sold a six year old British Blue cross cow to make 203.5p/kg selling to JA Jewitt, Spennymoor.

Limousin cross cows from this home also sold to £1406.58 for a 13 year old cow weighing 788kg and making 178.5p/kg, with another 705kg Limousin cross cow selling for 199.5p/kg and £1406.48, the 5 cross bred cows from Terrys Farm sold to average £1306.27 & 190.26p/kg.

All classes of cast cows were another strong trade with an overall average of 142.65p/kg & £1000.72 being achieved for continental and dairy bred cows.
