Kirkby Stephen Prize Show & Sale of Store Cattle

Kirkby Stephen, Faraday Road, Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4QL

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual September store cattle sale.

Topping the sale at £1500 was the overall champion a 9 month old Limousin cross store heifer from Messrs Tiplady, Red House Farm, Barnard Castle.

Our judge Mr M Harryman, Swainsea Barn Farm, Pickering awarded the overall championship to a 11 month old Limousin crops steers from Messrs Lawson, Buddle House, Richmond which sold for £1350. The pre sale show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co Accountants.

An overall sale average of £1140.92 was achieved with steers averaging £1148.18 (+£151.78 on the year) and heifers averaging £1127.87 (+£60.57 on the year)

Messrs Benson, Gamswell Farm, Ulverston sold Limousin cross heifers to £1440.

Messrs Beckwith, New Hall, Barras sold Limousin cross heifers to £1425 and £1400.

Messrs Atkinson, Green Farm, Colby sold 14 month old Limousin cross steers to make £1345.

Messrs Lawson, Buddle House sold 11 month old Limousin cross steers to £1285 and £1255 with 10 month sold steers making £1225 also from this home.
