RUBY IS THE MOST VALUABLE AT WARNELVIEW
The Warnelview Holstein herd based in Cumbria and owned and managed by the Wilson family staged their impressive Production Sale at the Borderway Sale Centre in front of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic crowd of Holstein breeders from across the UK and Ireland. The Warnelview herd is one of the very best herds in the UK with an average classification of 87 points boasting 110 Excellent cows and 123 Very Goods with 106 Very Good milking heifers.
Trade topped at 10,000gns for a super stylish daughter of Silvio from the Ruby cow family with no less than 22 animals selling for or more than £3000. Milking cows and heifers averaged almost £2500. Buyers from 23 counties were recorded from all the five home nations and once again the importance on the online bidding platform was very evident with just over a third of the sale purchased online.
Breeders from across the UK and Ireland all wanted a member of the Ruby cow family which has become one of the most prolific with the Warnelview herd. The family first came to prominence when Warnelview Goldwyn Ruby EX94 became the Number 1 PLI Cow in the breed resulting in several sons and grandsons going to stud. Topping the sale at 10,000gns was Warnelview Silvio Ruby 2, a Very Good 87 classified heifer, her dam was an Excellent 94 Saloon with 5% butterfat and 3.6% protein. This ultra-stylish animal was purchased by Cyril and Martin Millar from N. Ireland.
Warnelview Silvio Ruby 2 - 10,000gns
The Ruby family dominated all the top bidding and selling for 8,000gns was Warnelview Challenger Ruby sired by Sandy-Valley Challenger with the first five dams all high scoring Excellent cows. Warnelview Goldwyn Ruby EX94 was her granddam her brother, Warnelview Rivet had sold at last year’s Border & Lakeland Autumn Bull sale for 5,500gns. This super uddered young heifer now joins the Willsbro Holstein in Cornwall, who also purchased her King Doc heifer calf for 1,500gns.
Warnelview Pharo Ruby sold for 4,200gns to Paul Dunn and Geoff Patton in N. Ireland. She was sired by Sandy-Valley Pharo and is potentially the seventh generation of high scoring Excellent cows from the Ruby cow family. Her brother, Warnelview Randal sold for 4,200gns in this years Border & Lakeland Spring Bull Sale. Her heifer calf by Claynook Duplo sold for 2,500gns Matt Fisher from the Whispering Springs Holstein herd in Penrith.
The herd icon is Warnelview Final Cut Nita, the Excellent 97 pointed cow who continues to look like a super model with 144 ton of milk already produced. She had two daughters sell by Unix both classified 87 points with Warnelview Unix Nita 3 selling for 5,200gns and Warnelview Unix Nita 6 selling for 5,300gns. These two special animals were purchased by Cyril and Martin Millar from N. Ireland. Both these two heifers had heifer calves following with the Jones daughter from Nita 3 selling for 3,600gns to Mr Coppinger in Ireland and a Crushabull daughter from Nita 6 selling for 3,400gns to the Gillespie family from Ploughlands Farm near Wigton.
Warnelview Final Cut Nita’s grand daughter by Sidekick sold for 8,000gns to Jason Booth in N. Ireland. This perfect uddered young heifer was classified Very Good 87 and was bred from the highest classified daughter of Nita currently Excellent 94 and sired by Seaver. Her daughter by Duplo sold for 3,100gns to Mt Roberts in Yorkshire.
An excellent trade for summer born heifer calves topped at 4,200gns to average £912 for 92 calves. Topping at 4,200gns was Warnelview Silvio Ruby 6 a special daughter of Warnelview Ruby Iota EX92 who is one of the best bull dams in the herd, next dam is the famous Goldwyn Ruby EX94. This perfect balanced young calf was purchased by the Hodgson family owners of the Wormanby Holstein herd.
