Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 8th September Harrison & Hetherington had forward 1163 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 430 Store Cattle, 200 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 308 Calves, and 225 dairy cattle in the Warnelview Production Sale.

STORE CATTLE – An increased number of buyers at the ringside saw store cattle subject to better returns this week, cattle displaying more flesh and weight are now seeing a premium as feed prices look set to rise.  Leading the way at £1660 was a cracking Limousin bullock from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Dearham who also saw Holstein bullocks sell to an astonishing £1540.  Heifers again were lead by Limousins at £1580 from Messrs Brough, Clappers, Wigton.

WEANED CATTLE: Bulls continue to fly for all types with young Simmental bulls leading the trade in Borderway today.  £1280 was the top for one from Gerrard House, Wigton, Messrs Gwynne, Castlewigg also had Simmental bulls at £1260 and £1200.  Aberdeen Angus bulls topped at £1150 from Messrs Graham, Barnglies who also had a Hereford at £1030.  Heifers were up to £1290 from Messrs Mitchell, Glenwood House.  Limousin heifers sold to £1050 from Messrs Smith, Gallhill and £1030 from Messrs Carr, New House.  British Blue heifers sold to £1065 for a nice type from Messrs Harrington, Sleightholme.  British Blue bullocks were up to £1100 from the same home.  Limousin bullocks sold to £1040 from Messrs Walton, Greyside.
