LITTLE MIX TOPS THE CHARTS

The Panda Holstein herd owned by Molly Westwood held their first Open House and Online Sale resulting in a top price of £6,800 with the overall average coming to £3,700.  The sale comprised all the headline cow families that have helped propel the Panda prefix and the Panda brand to be one of the most recognized and respected names in the Red & White Holstein business.

Breeders from across the UK, Ireland and Europe attended both the farm and viewed online as bidding concluded on Friday afternoon.  Topping the sale at £6,800 was Panda Dempsey Little Mix who was purchased by Lynn Robertson from Ashlea Farm.  Little Mix is the first daughter of the current World Dairy Expo Champion, Highcroft Absolute Lily EX96 to sell outside North America.  Lily was named Grand Champion in the Red & White show in 2019 and is the only Red & White Holstein cow currently with an Excellent 98 mammary.

Panda Dempsey Little Mix - top price of £6800

Selling for £5,400 was Panda Tangtastic a powerful and long framed daughter of Unstopabull with an impressive genomic Type figure of +2.88.  She was 2nd Junior Calf at the last UK Dairy Expo in 2020 and carried a female pregnancy for February to Attraction Red.  Her dam is the number 2 PTAT Diamondback daughter worldwide with the foundation member of this impressive cow family being Alanvale Inspiration Tina EX95.  Tangtastic was purchased by Dessie McCorry from N. Ireland.

Panda Hidden Gem Red sold for £5,000 to the Carldanton Holstein herd owned by Anthony Grimshaw.  This ultra stylish daughter of Avatar Red was the winning Intermediate Calf at the recent Mid Devon Show and displayed enormous potential to compete at National level.  Her dam by Absolute Red recently classified Very Good 88 in her second lactation completing eleven generations of Excellent or Very Good cows from the Gem cow family from Western Canada.

Anthony Grimshaw also purchased a young Amaretto daughter bred of the herd icon Panda Autumn O’Kalibra Red for £4,600.  She is the highest PTAT daughter of the maximum classified three year old and resembles her world famous third dam Decrausaz Iron OKalibra in so many ways with her extremely open dairy frame and beautiful flat bone.

An embryo from the rising star at Panda sold for £800 with the proceeds going to the Motor Neuron Disease Charity.  The donor dam is a super yearling heifer, Panda Unique Cheerio Red, sired by Amaretto and going back to Unique Dempsey Cheers EX95 one of the most popular show cows in recent years.  Molly’s mum was recently diagnosed with MND and we hope the money can go towards finding a cure in the future.  We would like to thank Steven Robinson from N. Ireland for purchasing this lot.

Molly would like to thank everyone who supported her first sale and Open House and wishes all the buyers much success with their Panda animals.
