Northern Supreme Blue Texel Sale

Three New Breed Records Set’ at the Annual ‘Northern Supreme Sale’ held at Borderway Mart on Saturday the 28^th August.  This was the largest catalogued entry of Blue Texel Sheep to date with a huge entry of 627 Rams and Females.

Females were very much in demand on the day with plenty of new faces around the ring looking to secure foundation genetics.

Sara & Steve Gibbons refreshing last years record success to set a New Breed Shearling Ewe Record. Selling lot 1593 WHATMORE ECCLES (ET) for 22’000 Gns, Whatmore Eccles is sired by Whatmore Bentley and out of Whatmore Battenburg, she was 1^st Prize Shearling Ewe,  Reserve Female Champion and Reserve Overall Champion in the Pre-Sale Show, she sold to Henry Jewitt (Sunnybank Flock).

Steve & Sara went on to sell its full sister Lot 1592 WHATMORE ÉCLAIR (ET) for the 3^rd top price of the day for 11’000 Gns she also goes to join Henry Jewitt’s Sunnybank Flock.

12,000 Gns was achieved from Matthew Burleigh selling his 2^nd Prize Shearling Ewe  Lot 1612 MATTS ESCOBABE out of Derg Cindy and sired by Saltire Blue Derek who has produced lambs to sell previously for 6000Gns she sold to Messrs Roberts, St Clears

Another Breed Record was also set in the Ewe Lamb Section when the 1^st Prize Ewe Lamb, Female Champion and Overall Champion Lot 1766 MATTS FLASH HARRIET (ET) from Matthew Burleigh sold for 8,000 Gns to Rhian Price & Jamie Jerman for their newly established Titanium Flock.

Rams topped at 10,000Gns for a Ram lamb from Stuart Hunter Lot 1495 HUNTERS FLYING SCOTSMAN (ET), Sired by Beili Blues Elliot (ET) out of a Millside Ewe which has previously bred lambs offspring to 5000Gns, he heads to Northamptonshire to join Baird & Coles Silson Flock.

The 3^rd Breed Record of the day was set when Rhys Cooke sold his 2^nd Prize Shearling Ram Lot 1229 NANTYDERRI ELFRED (ET) for 5200Gns to Victoria & Gill Bowring for their Wind-Mill Flock.  Nantyderri Elfred is sired by Derg Churchill (ET) ( 3100gns top price Dungannon 2018) out of Cleenagh Big Bird (1900gns top female price Dungannon 2018)
