On Wednesday 15th September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Show & Sale of NEMSA Mule gimmer lambs within Middleton in Teesdale market on Wednesday.
A sale noted for high hill bred lambs famed for their ability to thrive and grow on new pastures, attracted new and regular buyers to Middleton in Teesdale Auction Mart. Top end tuppers and tail end runners were met with a fantastic enquiry. Running lambs in particular would be £8-10 ahead of previous traded this season.
A sale average of £108.37 was recorded for this event.
The pre sale judging was ably conducted by Mr Trevor Foster, Ryehill, Sedbergham, Mr Mike Dickens, Park Hill Farm, Milton Keynes, with Mr Paul Ferris, Tow Law acting as referee. Their Champion pen consigned by N & A Bainbridge, Lane Side who were exhibiting in the show for the first time, achieved £170 selling to Mr J Ackerley, Brampton. Leading the day’s trade at £200 was the 3rd prize pen consigned by JC & J White, Rigg Farm, these sold to Andrew Geary, Milton Keynes.
