At Lockerbie on Tuesday 21st September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, held the annual sale of North Country Cheviot Hill females where a superb entry of 4616 females were presented.
1984 draft ewes averaged £132.50 and sold to a top of £200 from Kelsocleugh Farming. Sorbietrees Farms and Messrs Bland, Clea Hall both sold to a top of £175. Mr WDA Allen, Stouphill sold their top pen for £170.
In the gimmer section Mr N Retson, Maidencoates sold pens to £450, £400(x2), £320 and £300. Raymond Lund, East Clough sold at £380 with Mr RW Flintoff, Cocklawfoot, Yetholm selling to £270. The 1308 gimmers sold averaged £211.89 which was up £4.55 on the year with 655 more sold than last year.
1324 ewe lambs averaged £132.50 which was up an impressive £13.92 on the year again with many more sold. Top price came from Mr WD Allen, Stouphill who sold to £290(x2) with Kelsocleugh cashing in at £270 and local consignor Mr R Howatson, Meikle Whitriggs selling at £210 and £205.
