Lockerbie Store Cattle Sale

Change in the weather but not the trade on Tuesday 28^th September as Harrison and Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store cattle at Lockerbie Auction Mart.

A variety of types sold to a strong ringside of buyers with everything from suckled calves to more forward cattle. The range in quality and type of cattle was evident, however, the strength of the live ring at Lockerbie is clear to see. 13-month-old Limousin bullocks sold up to £1230 from Messrs Wright, Hunthills. The same home also had 13-month-old heifers at £1210. Aberdeen Angus heifers sold up to £1270 from Messrs Glendinning, Newfield while Aberdeen Angus bullocks at just 11 months old were up to £1185 from Messrs More, Maxwellbank. Strong Limousin heifers from Messrs Taylor, Little Redhall Farm were up to 253ppk with Limousin bullocks selling to 260ppk again from Messrs Wright and 256ppk from Messrs Howatson, Gillenbie. All signs are pointing in the right direction for a strong trade for the up and coming suckled calf sale here at Lockerbie on 12^th October.
