Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 6th October Harrison & Hetherington had forward 1545 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 664 Store Cattle, 240 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 308 Calves and 333 dairy cattle in the Monthly Borderway dairy day. 

STORE CATTLE – A larger show of 664 store cattle were forward this week with numbers coming forward fast as the land starts to feel the brunt of the recent weather.  A larger company of buyers ensured all classes were sharper on the week, strong cattle again regularly sailed past £1300 with younger well fleshed types regularly £1100 - £1200.  Topping the sale today at £1590 was Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton with a forward Limousin x steer.  Heifers sold to £1460 again for a cracking Limousin from Messrs Brough, Clappers, Aspatria.  Natives peaked at £1340 for a Beef Shorthorn steer from Gelt Hall with dairy bullocks to £1310 for Montbelairdes from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna.

WEANED CATTLE: Another large show of weaned cattle were forward with trade very similar on the week.  Top price of the day was for a great Limousin and a Saler x from Messrs Jamieson, Garrochtrie at £1100 with other young bulls also selling for £1080 and £1060 from Mains of Minnydow.

Clean cattle we also very well bid for seeing new buyers present and making the most of the numbers coming forward.   In the heifer section the top price was £1010 paid for 2 Limousin x heifers from Messrs Hunter, Upper Brydekirk, Annan and steers peaked at £1060 for a Simmental x from Messrs McIntyre, Newton Stewart.
