Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their sale of Cast & OTM Cattle on Monday when 80 were forward. 

Topping the sale at £1492.69 was a Limousin cast bull from Messrs Lawson, Buddle House, Richmond which was bought by D Barker.

Topping at 225.5p/kg was a Limousin cross cow which was consigned by Messrs Hughes, Dona Close, Asby and bought by D Barker.

British Blue cross cows topped at £1489.09 for a 739kg cow which made 201.5p/kg from G&S Holdings, Little Asby and selling to Messrs McGimpsey.

Messrs Lawson, Buddle House also sold a British Blue cross cow weighing 637 to make 212.5p/kg and £1353.63 selling to Messrs Watson, Norwich.

Messrs Jenkinson, Whingill, Hartley sold a pure Aberdeen Angus cow weighing 890kg to make 155.5p/kg and gross £1383.95.

The consignment of eight Aberdeen Angus cows from this home sold to average £1212.48.

Dairy cows sold to £1185.08 and 172.5p/kg for a Holstein/Friesian from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall which was bought by Messrs Roberts, Wales.

Trade defied any recent pull backs from other methods of marketing and proved the live ring to come out on top with an overall sale average of 142.95p/kg and £1017 being achieved for 80 cows sold!
