Roussin Show and Sale

The annual Roussin Sheep Society Sale held at Borderway Mart saw a top price of 1000gns for a shearling gimmer from the Ballylinney flock. This 2nd prize shearling gimmer was bred from Hornacott bloodline on both sides and caught the eye of Messrs Livesey, Roxburghshire.

Topping the ram trade at 980gns was the 3rd prize shearling ram Blaenaucaron King consigned by Geraint Jones, Ceredigon. This ram found a new home in Moffat with the Ballylinney flock of Mr Derek Steen.

Following on at 920gns was the top priced ram lamb from Martin McCornick, Newton Stewart. McCornick Lysander won 3rd prize in the show ring earlier in the morning and was sired by homebred ram Hercules, he travels to Ayr to join Messrs McFarlane’s flock.

Next in at 900gns was the first in the pen for Derek Steen, with his ram lamb winning its class and Overall Champion. Ballylinney Lance was by a Hornacott ram out of a homebred ewe, was secured in a 2 way split, to Messrs Fleming, Newton Stewart and Messrs Young, Ayrshire.

The 3rd prize gimmer follows next from the McCornick flock, a Stairhaven James daughter, again fancied by the Ayrshire breeder Messrs McFarlane this time for 800gns.
