GREAT COW FAMILIES TOP AT WORMANBY SALE
Following a super successful youngstock sale in 2020 the Wormanby Holstein herd selected another outstanding group of heifers from their prize-winning herd. The herd ranks with the very best Holstein herds in Europe and was the UK Premier Herd winner in 2015, currently with 72 Excellent, 116 Very Goods of which 42 are Very Good milking heifers with just over 230 animals milking.
Prices topped at 3,200gns on two occasions first for Wormanby Ewemoo Crushtime Camomile who was purchased by the Kendal Holstein syndicate. Camomile was sired by Crushtime and bred from a Very Good 87 Jacoby two year old who is sister to Blondin Crown Royal at Blondin Sires, third dam in this pedigree is the prolific transmitter Silvermaple Damionn Camomile EX95. She was carrying a service to Lambda sexed for late spring.
One of the youngest heifers in the sale, Wormamby Haniko A Mahala sold for 3,200gns to the Espland Holstein herd near Appleby. This was one of the first daughters of Haniko to sell in the UK her dam is a special two year old in the Wormanby herd currently scored Very Good 87, next dam is the amazing Bottle Mahala who won the Production class at UK Dairy Expo in 2019.
Topping the 2020 Wormanby sale at 5,600gns was a heifer form the PR Barbie cow family and it once again featured in the leading prices. Wormanby Discjockey Barbie sold for 3,000gns to the Espland Holstein herd, she was sired by Claynook Discjockey, her grand dam is full sister to the 2019 World Dairy Expo Champion Butz-Butler Gold Barbara EX96.
Also selling for 3,000gns was Wormanby Crushtime Adeen who was purchased by the Woodcatt Holstein herd near Penrith. This high style daughter of Crushtime was bred from an Excellent 93 Mardi Gras dam who was purchased in the Black & White sale for 5,200gns. Next dam was Lavenham Aden was a multiple Grand Champion at UK Dairy Expo, Agriscot and the Great Yorkshire Show in 2013.
The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on the 3rd November and features 350 dairy cattle in Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale. This sale features 90 heifers from the Sandyknowe Farm.
