Lazonby Store Lamb Sale

On Thursday 21^st October Harrison & Hetherington held their fortnightly sale of store lambs within Lazonby Mart.  A total of 1513 lambs were presented to a large ringside of buyers looking for all classes of lambs; a total sale average of £67.86 was achieved with half the sale present being Swaledale lambs.

Topping the sale was a pen of 8 Beltex lambs from regular vendor M Faulder, Ewan Close selling for £114; Messrs Howe, Colene Croft showed a quality pen of Charollais cross lambs to the price of £108.

Hill lambs were once again simply outstanding from start to finish, top price came for a pair of Greyfaced lambs from G & J Hope, Syke Side selling for £89.  Highlights included a pen of 58 Greyfaced from Messrs Norman, Westgarth selling for £87.50 and a pen of 52 from Messrs Armstrong, Triermain selling for the same price.  Swaledale lambs were a great show with the top price coming from a pen of 10 from A & C Ivinson, Sandwick at £56.

A great day was had with lambs being described as a lot dearer than other local centres.

The next sale at Lazonby will be the e nd of season sale of store lambs and feeding ewes, including breeding sheep and rams of all classes on Thursday 4^th November.
