Kirkby Stephen SSBA ‘C’ District Ram Sales – Day 2

Kirkby Stephen, Faraday Road, Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4QL

Harrison & Hetherington held the second day of the annual Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale on Thursday, where 392 shearlings rams were on offer. 

The sale topped at £45,000 for the overall champion shearling ram consigned by Mr M Ewbank, Intake Farm, Harrogate which sold to a half share between Messrs Allinson, West Briscoe, Baldersdale and Messrs Iceton & Sons, High Birk Hatt, Baldersdale.

Next selling to £38000 was the fourth prize shearling ram from Messrs Dent & Son, Naby View, Barnard Castle which was sold to a three way split shared between Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall, Messrs Harker, Overthwaite & Messrs Hargreaves, Meadow Bank.

The overall reserve championship and best shearling ram for the ‘C’ district was awarded to Messrs Richardson, Ghyll House which sold for £9000 to Messrs Dixon, Yoad Pott, Selside.

Messrs Nelson, Bull & Cave sold a shearling ram to £28000 to another three way split between Messrs Scarr, Fawcett House Farm, Messrs Iveson, Low Blackburn and Messrs Whitehead, Kisdon.

Hitting the £25000 was a shearling shown by Messrs Wear, Howe Green, Hartsop selling to another three way split Messrs Bland, Cote Gill, Messrs White, Rigg Farm & Messrs Wilson, Arngill House.

Again achieving £25000 was a shearling from Messrs Nelson & Son, Bull & Cave selling to another three way split shared between Messrs Blades, Brown Moor, Messrs Bland, Thwaite Bridge House & Messrs Nelson, Bull & Cave Farm.

305 rams sold averaged £2323.98 (minus £29.67 on the year).
