Kirkby Stephen SSBA ‘C’ District Ram Sales – Day 3

Harrison & Hetherington held the third day of the annual Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale on Friday when 379 shearlings rams were on offer. 

The sale topped at £60,000 for the second prized shearling ram consigned by Messrs Hallam, High Birkwith, Horton in Riversdale who was the consignor of the three day sale and was purchased by a three way split between Messrs Tully, Burncroft Farm, Messrs White, Rigg Farm & Messrs Iveson East House.

Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall sold rams to £32000 being purchased by Messrs Wear, Howe Green with Messrs Harker retaining a share of the ram.

Messrs Harker also sold rams to £25000 on two separate occasions, firstly for the overall champion ram of the day selling to Messrs Raine, Stanhope Gate Farm and secondly selling to a three way split Messrs Blades, Scarr House, Messrs Robinson, Catlow & Messrs Brogden, Helbeck.

Messrs Bland, Thwaite Bridge House sold rams to £30000 which sold to Messrs Nelson, Bull & Cave and Messrs Booth, Old Hall.

Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm achieved £28000 selling to a Messrs Tennant, Hemplands; Messrs Ewbank, Intake Farm & Messrs Ewbank High Draymans Farm.

Also achieving the £25,000 mark was Messrs Brogden, Helbeck with this ram going to a two way split between Messrs Clarkson, Low Whita Farm & Messrs Metcalfe, Usha Gap.

333 rams sold to average £3084.98 (up £451.62 on the year).

A fantastic overall two day average of £2709.20 (up £223.16 on the year) for 641 rams sold with this been 22 more rams sold on the year.
