Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

On Wednesday 27th October Harrison & Hetherington had 927 forward cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 455 Store Cattle, 195 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings and 277 Calves. 

STORE CATTLE – Yet another fantastic entry of 455 store cattle at Borderways weekly sale.  Trade ramps up once again with all classes seeing a lift with ever regenerated interest around the ringside.  Top overall on the day was a British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Robinson, Burtholme Farm, Brampton achieving £1590 and their run of 8 cattle averaged £1468.13.  Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth sold their top Charolais cross to £1530 and Messrs Robinson, Rowell Farm, Milnthorpe to £1500.  Limousin crosses to £1500 again from Burtholme Farm, and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1450 from Rowell Farm.  Steers sold to a top of £1580 for Limousins from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, £1490 for others from Messrs Harrison, Midtown Farm, Wigton.  British Blue crosses to £1495 from Burtholme Farm, and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1390 from Rose Farm and finally the same home also sold top priced Black and white to £1350 for Holstein Friesians

WEANED CATTLE: Strong trade once again at Borderway.  Bulls topped at £1480 for a strong Limousin bull from Messrs M Brown, Housenrigg Farm.  The same home also had another at £1400.  Blonde bulls topped at £1355 from Messrs Bell, Newshield and Aberdeen Angus bulls topped at £1150 from Messrs Gardhouse & Sons, Aikton.  Bullocks and heifers were also very well bid for on the day.  Bullocks reached heights of £1200 for a from Messrs Caddy, The Crescent.  Limousin bullocks sold to £1000 from Messrs Hogg, Middle Brownrigg.  Holstein Friesians sold up to £800 from Messrs Sherwen, Low Thorney   Limousin heifers were an outstanding trade.  Messrs Beattie, Woodfield had one at £1310, and others at £1240 and £1040.
