Harrison & Hetherington held the opening day of the three day annual Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale.
Topping the sale at £4500 was the Champion aged ram a 5 shear receiving the Silver Challenge Cup given by Stan Davies, Haltcliffe Officer bred by and consigned by Messrs Walker, Brennand Farm, Clitheroe which sold in a half share between Messrs Pedley, Yore House and Messrs Pedley, Prospect House.
The champion ram lamb was lot 158 from Burncroft Farm, Egglestone which sold for £2000 to Messrs Richardson, Big Ferny Ford Farm, Buxton.
Ram lambs topped at £4000 for lot 153 from Messrs Marwood, Hill Top Farm, Newsham which was bought by Messrs Brennand, Ellerbeck, Chapel le Dale.
Aged rams also sold to £4000 for a 4 shear bred by Messrs Beckwith, New Hall and consigned by Messrs Wearmouth, Parkside, Barnard Castle which returned to New Hall with Messrs Beckwith.
Aged rams averaged £826.97
