On Wednesday 1st December Harrison & Hetherington had 1070 forward cattle at their weekly sale comprising of an entry of 380 Store Cattle, 149 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings and 311 Calves and over 350 dairy cattle from the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day.
STORE CATTLE – The weekly sale of 380 store cattle had less numbers forward as the festive period approaches, however certainly no shortage of buyers with cattle being dearer on the week.
Bullocks sold to £1550 for another cracking Limousin brought forward by Messrs TT & JE Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith
The sale was topped by the usual suspects Messrs TB Stamper & Son, Rose Farm, Dearham who sold an Aberdeen Angus cross heifer for £1640, with Mr Gary Bell, Haas Side selling a British Blue heifer for £1600.
Bullocks sold to £1550 for a cracking Limousin from TT & JE Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith.
An amazing 20% of the sale sold for £1300- £1640 seeing an overall average of £1173 with bullocks at £1176 and heifers to £1127.16

WEANED CATTLE: All types sold dearer on the week, with bulls once again a tremendous trade, topping at £1070 for a young Limousin from Messrs Wigham, Hargill House. Beef Shorthorn sold to £960 from Messrs Coulthard, Carwath. Simmental bulls to £960 from the same home.
Bullocks and heifers were a better trade on the week with all types, seeing well bid for both dairy and beef bred. Good British Friesian bullocks sold to £725 from JR & G Forster, Brackenthwaite. Limousins from Messrs Armstrong, Broomhills sold to £800. Messrs Carr, New House sold British Blue bullocks to £810.
Heifers peaked at £1140 for a Limousin from Messrs Barron, with Messrs Martin, Hesleywell selling one to £110. Another to £1030 and £990 for a fantastic run of cattle. Hereford heifers sold to £900 from James Bratch , Ruthwell Farm. Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £830 from Messrs Edgar, The Flatt.
