Blue Texel Spring Spectacular

At the Spring Spectacular sale of Blue Texels at Carlisle six ewes and lambs averaged £1435; 16 lambs levelled at £1253.43 and 10 hoggs averaged out at £1021.56. The sale peaked at 3500gns for a ewe lamb from Stasa Moyse.

Sale top was a ewe lamb from Stasa Moyse’s Saltire Blue flock which made 3500gns selling to D Brisbane, Castle Kennedy. This lamb was sired by Caryl’s Blue Captain and an embryo daughter of Saltire Blue A Beauty.

At 2400gns was the ewe lamb, Matt’s Felicia from Matthew Burleigh. She was sired by Drumard Ed and her dam was Hackney Caryl. The successful purchaser of this lot was Messrs G & E Jones, Trisant, Holyhead.

The best of the ewe hoggs also sold for 2400gns, this was Saltire Blue Ewe Stunner sired by Saltire Blue Casanova and out of Saltire Blue A Beauty who has already bred daughters to 6000gns. Ewe Stunner was purchased by Claremount Properties, Penrith.

Next best at 2300gns was a ewe from G & K Williams Dragon flock with her twin ewe lambs at foot that sold to Henry Jewitt, Gracies Farm, Barnard Castle. This ewe was bred by Jan Rodenburg although sired by Dragon Buster and her ewe lambs were sired by 4000gns Beili Blues Extreme.

The ewe hogg Saltire Blue Ewe Are Class made 2200gns to JD Stephenson and Sons from York. This hogg was sired by Saltire Blue Crown Jewel and also out of Saltire Blue A Beauty.  

The Dragon flock sold another 2019 born ewe with lambs at foot for 1900gns, This was Dragon Dwynwen who was also sired by Dragon Buster and once again her lambs were by Beili Blues Extreme. This unit was purchased by Messrs Bailey, Keighley, West Yorkshire.
