Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 15^th December Harrison & Hetherington had 872 cattle forward at their weekly sale comprising of an entry of 380 Store Cattle, 152 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 250 calves and 90 dairy cattle in the Border & Lakeland Club Sale.

STORE CATTLE – Another fabulous entry of 380 store cattle was forward to the usual large company of buyers. All classes remain good to sell however plainer and leaner types have seen a slight decrease over recent weeks.  Leading today’s sale at £1660 were the usual culprits Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Dearham who also led the heifers at £1590. Native bullocks sold to £1540 from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton with heifers selling to £1250 for Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Holliday, New Bampton, Carlisle. Dairy bullocks peaked at £1290 for Holsteins from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm.

WEANED CATTLE: Trade ever increasing for both bulls and stirks with both looking once again dearer on the week. Bulls topped at £1170 for a Limousin from Messrs Mews, Glendue Farm. Another sold at £1150 from Messrs Anderson, Rowanburn Foot. Simmental bulls topped at £1130 from PN Burgess, High Keenley Fell who also had another at £1040. Heifers sold to £1200 from Messrs Mattinson, Burthwaite. Aberdeen Angus heifers were up to £1050 from Messrs Todhunter, Greyrigg. Bullocks sold to £1130 for a Limousin from Messrs Hall, Nether Horsley who also had one at £1080. Positive trade bodes well for the new year where the bulls and stirks will have a new home in ring 4 at 12.30pm every Wednesday.
