‘Christmas Stars shine bright on Monday Night’

The Sportsmans and Mellor Vale flocks achieve averages nothing short of stratospheric, selling to a top of 38,000gns to achieve £12,915 for 10 gimmers sold.

The pen leader from Boden & Davies Ltd was sired by 65,000gns Garngour Craftsman and out of Garngour Alabama daughter, and sits in the 10% for EBV’s. She scanned carrying a single to 22,000gn Haymount Eye of the Beholder and sold jointly to the Lakeview flock of Gary Beacom and Mr Stewart Craft, Fife.

Another shared ownership take the next best price of 30,000gns again from the Sportsmans pen. She was also sired by Garngour Craftsman, but this time out of a Teiglum Younggun daughter who was the sale leader at Lanark selling for 70,000gns in 2016. She sold carrying twins to Seaford Empire to Messrs Powell, Herefordshire and to the Usk Vale Flock, of Willy Davis.

The Sportsmans flock reinvested some of their earnings into a Knap gimmer for 16,000gns, sired by 17,000gn Sportsmans Cannon Ball and out of an Etrrick Van Gogh daughter. She carries twins to 24,000gn New View Electrifying.

The Kedzlie Farm flock has the next pick out of the Sportsmans pen with another Garngour Craftsmans daughter, who also bred 350,000gn Sportsmans Double Diamond. She carries twins to Seaford Empire King and sold for 12,000gns.

The Harestone and Allanfuald flocks teamed up to secure the another Sportsmans gimmer for 10,000gns. She features in the top 25% for EBV’s and is another daughter of Garngour Craftsman this time out of a Strathbogie Ali G daughter, she was scanned a single to Haymount Eye of The Beholder.

Paul Castle’s Ulmus flock purchased a Mellor Vale gimmer in the top 25% EBV’s carrying twins to Haymount Eye of the Beholder for 7000gns.

Another gimmer hitting 7000gns was again a Garngour Craftsman daughter from Charlie Boden, ranking in the top 10% EBV’s, she was AI’d to Haymount Eye of the Beholder and was jointly purchased by Adrian Liggett, Corbo flock and James Wilkinson Ballygroogan flock.

Finally the last gimmer to reach 7000gns was a Knap gimmer sired by Sportsmans Cannon Ball, she was scanned a single and joins the Thornbury flock of Nick Legg, Herefordshire.

The last consignor into the ring was Thomas Muirhead with the Orchilmore flock, his leading gimmer sold to 5200gns, she was a Rhaeadr Best of the Best daughter, she sold carrying triplets to Sportsmans Deal Breaker and joins the Knap flock.

The Cowal flock topped at 5000gns for the first in their run, she sold AI’d to Sportsmans Express, carrying two, and was sired by 5000gn Rue Wood Cherokee, and joins the Carran flock, in Caithness.
