29 ANIMALS SELL FOR OR MORE THAN £2000 WITH 2 TOPPING AT £2300

The first Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale of 2022 had a super offering of freshly calved cows and heifers consigned by many of the leading herds from the north of England and Scotland.  195 animals sold, with the Holstein heifers averaging £1844, 29 animals sold for £2000 or more with two animals topping at £2300.

Topping the cow trade at £2300 was Broughton Dot who was consigned by the Holden family from Broughton in Furness who are dispersing their herd.  She was sired by Gillette Caviar and had recently calved in her second giving 45kgs.  Another eight cows and heifers from this herd sold to average £1831 with a fancy uddered heifer by Silverado selling for £2100.

The heifers topped at £2300 for Deerslet Painter Agatha consigned by the Lawson family from Carnforth.  She was sired by Peak AltaPainter and was bred from a VG dam with super high butterfat and protein. Another five animals from this herd averaged £1920 with Deerslet Allclass Fortune selling for £2000.   

Balcurvie Holsteins sold 21 heifers to average £1944 with four heifers selling for £2150.  

The Baillies from Longlea Farm, Lanarkshire consigned an impressive group of heifers sired by top sires and topped at £2100 for Netherlea Altalobello Donna who was sired by Altalobello. 

Sixteen cows and heifers were consigned by the Lyle family from Fife with Cambus Lineman Pan selling for £2250.  She was classified Very Good 86 in her first lactation and was bred from a Very Good 89 dam. 

A super group of Jersey Cross bred In-Calf were consigned by Kerricks Farm from Dumfries to average £1511 and topped at £1750.  These heifers were all due in February to the Jersey sire.
