Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held our opening sale of cast and OTM cattle of 2022 when 50 head were on offer.

Topping the sale at £2092.94 was a 8 year old 908kg pure British Blue cow which made 230.5p/kg from Messrs Wainwright, Todd Hall, Fife and sold to S McGimpsey.

Also making £1865.75 was another 850kg 8 year old Blue cow making 219.5p/kg also from Todd Hall.

Messrs Brass, Bridge End Farm, Soulby sold a 771kg British Blue cross cow to make 216.5p/kg and £1669.22 selling to Owain Llyr, Ruthin.

Messrs Sedgley, Low Bank House, Barbon sold a 7 year old British Blue cross cow to make £1550.38 (785kg @ 197.5p/kg) selling to Owain Llyr.

Beef Shorthorn cows sold to £1402.25 for a 710kg cow making 197.5p/kg from Messrs Little., Row End Farm, Soulby.

The Dairy section topped at £1210.23 and 178.5p/kg for a three year old Holstein from Messrs Bainbridge, Bonnygate Farm, Soulby.

Trade was outstanding for all classes with an unbelievable sale average of 160.76p/kg and £1120.63 being achieved for 50 head.
