Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 26th January Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves saw a strong show of 371 forward.  All classes of calves would be slightly easier on the week.

Topping today bulls section were British Blues from Messrs Davidson, Muirhouse grossing £550 for a thumper of a bull and with a joint top price Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown again £550.  Limousin trade was up to £455 from Messrs Little, North Greenhill for a cracking bull.  Angus bull calves were in high demand topping at £450 from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown with Angus bulls averaging £236.89 throughout the sale.

Holstein Friesians were in high demand today with trade topping at £250 from Messrs Davidson, Muirhouse closely followed at £220 from Messrs D Kennedy, Chapelcroft. 

Heifers on the week would be harder to cash throughout the sale.  Messrs Little, North Greenhill consignment topped the Limousin section twice at £435 for two cracking heifers.  Messrs Fisher topped with British Blues twice at £460 again for two thumping heifers.

Angus heifers were up to £315 from Messrs Wood, Groundy Croft, closely followed at £310 from Messrs Gott, Burton House.
