Borderway Store and Breeding sheep Sale

On Monday 31^st January Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store sheep.

BREEDING SHEEP: The weekly sale included the entire dispersal of breeding ewes on behalf of Messrs Crossthwaite, Greenclose, Penruddock took place. The flock consisted of 235 Mule ewes (2-4 crop), 54 Continental cross ewes and 161 Swaledale ewes.

The sale topper of £172 was paid for a pen of 20 4-crop Mule ewes scanned in lamb to the Suffolk ram. The full run of sheep were faced with a very competitive ringside of buyers and bidders ensuring an average of £159.62 paid for the run of Mule ewes. The Swaledale ewe also saw a strong following with ewes all scanned in lamb to the Bluefaced ram ensuring a top price of £130 paid with others selling to £115 regularly and averaged £119.06.

STORE SHEEP: Store sheep were once again very easily sold with a strong ringside of buyers. A top price of £111 was paid for a pair of Texel lambs from Messrs Dixon, Croft House, Brampton. A great run of Blackface lambs were forward from Messrs Armstrong, Broomhills, Longtown selling for £92 for a pen of 23 and to £86 for a pen of 31.
