Super Red & White Tops at £2600

The February Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale had over 300 dairy cattle on offer with  freshly calved cows and heifers consigned by many of the leading herds from the north of England and Scotland.  Trade was less on the month with Holstein heifers averaging £1641, only 18 animals sold for £2000 or more with cows topping at £2600.

The sale was sponsored by North West Farmers with the top price cow receiving the winning ticket.  She was Wreaywood Rage Edna Red who sold for £2600.  She was sired by Rager Red and was giving 50kgs in her second lactation.  Another twenty animals from this home sold to average £1967 with a Goldenboy second lactation cow giving almost 60kgs selling for £2250.

The heifers topped at £2250 for Kibbleston Dewars Iris.  She was sired by Dewaers and was bred from an Estate dam with super butterfat.  This fine heifer was consigned by John Craig from near Dunfermline.   

Craig Moffat from Kirtlebank Farm near Gretna sold Kirtlebank Biggie Carla for £2100 she was bred from an Excellent dam sired by Endstory. 

North Corbelly Farming sold their Holstein cows and heifers topping at £1950 for a dry cow due in March.  This group of mainly summer calving cows averaged £1251. 

A super group of Jersey Holstein Cross bred In-Calf were consigned by Sandyknowe Farm from Kelso to average £1484 and topped at £1750 on two occasions. 

A group of Fleckvieh and Monthbeliarde cross bred in calf heifers from Challoch Farms topped at £1220 twice to average £1112.  A super group of pure bred Fleckvieh cows sold from this farm earlier in the sale topping at £1850.
