Lockerbie Store Cattle Sale

On Tuesday 8^th February Harrison & Hetherington held their fortnightly sale of store cattle at Lockerbie Mart.

Sparks fly at Lockerbie Auction Mart with immense trade throughout for all types of store cattle!

Floods of buyers from far and wide provided evidence of great interest!

Limousin bullocks sold up to £1450 per head from Messrs Richardson, Purdomstone and a staggering 333.3ppk from S & L Dodd, Tundergarth Mains, highlighting the demand for quality cattle. Messrs Dodd also sold heifers to 325ppk and 304pppk and further bullocks past 300ppk mark. Messrs Richardson, Purdomstone also sold bullocks to £1380 for a pen of six. Aberdeen Angus bullocks topped at £1160 for a pen of four from Messrs Glendinning, Newfield. While Simmental bullocks topped at £1170 from Messrs Ritchie, Middlebiehill.

British Blue heifers sold to £1140 for a paid from D Robson, Laverockhall. Messrs Telfer, Cleughfoot also had a successful day selling Limosuin bullocks to 299ppk and heifers to 273ppk. Charolais bullocks sold to 277ppk from Messrs AK Spence, Corrielaw.

More cattle could quite easily have been sold, with many buyers leaving empty handed.
