Borderway Weekly Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 9th February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a smaller show of 280 forward.  Trade continues to rise for stronger calves with demand increasing for two calves months and older.  Calves under a month of age remain the same price and are harder to place with the rising milk powder costs.  Topping todays sale at £510 for a British Blue from Messrs Irving, Brunt Hill, closely followed by two at £505 from Messrs Wight, Stranraer.  39 calves selling in excess of £400.  Heifers topped at £460 from regular supporters Messrs Beaty, Stone Walls.  Well fleshed Black & White continue to sell very well but youngest calves remain the hardest to sell.
