Middleton In Teesdale Special Show & Sale of Show potential calves

On Tuesday 15th February Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held its special annual show and sale of show potential calves within Middleton-In-Teesdale Mart.

A catalogued entry of 220 cattle were presented to a truly astonishing trade throughout the sale. Buyers from all ends of the UK were in attendance ensuring all classes were well bid for.

Before the sale, the eagerly anticipated show took place, and was left in the capable hands of Mr James May, Bromsgrove to judge the exceptional quality of cattle. After looking over 36 calves he awarded the Championship rosette to the British Blue steer from JC & J White, Rigg Farm, which later sold for £2400 to the Judge.

The Reserve Champion also went to a British Blue, this time a heifer also consigned by Messrs White, which sold for £2600 to Amy Wilson, Ellonby.

 

Outwith the show, the sale topped at £2700 for a Limousin cross heifer again from Messrs White, selling this time to Mr John Mullin, Skipton.

A tremendous run of show calves were presented with 23 from regular supporter Messrs white, whose run averaged £1550.22.

Mr Robin Williamson, Littleburn Farm sold a roan red and white flashy heifer to £2200 to Mr Dean Allen, Malton.

Trade was simply electric from start to finish, with buyers keen for quality, 7/8 month old steers regularly sold over £1200. Steers averaged £1108 (+£72). Heifers were a monstrous trade with all classes of heifers were keenly bid for averaging £1182 (+£93)
