Dispersal Sale of the Tarnhill Holstein Herd

Tarnhill Holstein Herd Closes

Colin and Rachel Ewbank dispersed their pedigree Holstein herd following the February Border & Lakeland Sale in front of a packed ringside.  This fine herd was established twenty five years ago with production averaging almost 9000kgs with impressive butterfat and protein.  The cows and heifers averaged £1397 with a top price of 2,200gns paid on several occasions.

Tarnhill Danumero Queen sold for 2,200gns to Mr Shug from near Appleby.  She was sired by Relough Danumero and had calved back in December and was giving 36kgs

The second heifer to sell for 2,200gns was Tarnhill Kipling Tara sired by De-Su Kipling and was purchased by the Robinsons from Burtholme Farm.

In-Calf heifers topped at 1,700gns for Tarnhill Boastful Victoria who was purchased by the Harrisons from Wickerfield Farm near Penrith.  This powerful framed heifer was due in March to Bomaz Flynn.   

The youngstock were a credit to the Ewbanks with the bulling heifers and heifer calves selling to a brisk trade.  Bulling heifers topped at 1,50gns twice to average £914 and heifer calves topped at 650gns.
