Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle on Monday.

Topping at £1918.86 was a 1069kg Limousin cast bull which sold for 179.5p/kg from Messrs Lancaster, Fell View, Sandford.

Messrs Simpson, Knock Cross Farm, Appleby sold a 1223kg Montbeliard cast bull to make £1840.62.

Topping at 195.5p/kg was a Aberdeen Angus cow from Messrs Jenkinson, Whingill, Hartley.

Dairy cows sold to £1389.18 for a 6 year old Holstein Frisian which weighed 905kg and made 153.5p/kg from Messrs Jackson, Skelton Wood End, Penrith.

This same home also topped the Dairy cows at 155.5p/kg for a 785kg Holstein Friesian totalling £1220.68.

Trade for all classes was the dearest seen, with an outstanding overall sale average of 165.66p/kg and £1400.06 being achieved!!

Buyers left way short of requirements with the live ring being the only way to market all types of cast cows to massive premiums at the present time!
