Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 23rd February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a bumper entry of 400 forward.   Trade for the strongest calves continue to fly but young calves continue to struggle in value with many customers for these types busy lambing.  Grazing system calves have begun to come on the market but poor quality types have minimal value.

Topping today’s sale at £535 were two cracking British Blue bulls from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown whos run of 18 calves sold to average £480.56 up £50 on the week.  Limousin bulls sold to £530 from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale.  Heifers topped at £470 from Messrs Beaty, Stonewalls again for British Blues.    Well reared Black & White calves also remain very popular with 27 selling in excess of £200.
