Lockerbie Store Cattle Sale

Ring is king and the trade goes marching on.

Harrison & Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store cattle at Lockerbie with trade matching and in some cases exceeding that of the previous sale. Heifers topped at £1550 for an Aberdeen Angus from Cowhill Trust. The same home also had four Aberdeen Angus heifers at £1450 and bullocks up to £1380 for five. Bullocks topped at £1440 from Messrs Goldie, Greenfields who also had a Charolais heifer at £1400. British Blue heifers sold to £1440 again from Cowhill Trust while Limousin’s sold to £1240 from Messrs Richardson, Purdomstone. It was Limousin’s that topped at pence per kilo for a fantastic heifer from Messrs Rennie & Son, Sydenham, Kelso. His best two made 316ppk and 312ppk. Charolais bullocks sold to 287ppk for a pen of five from Messrs MacGregor, Relief Farm who has another two pens of five at 281ppk and 280ppk. Andrew Reid, Gelndearg also sold to 280ppk for his Charolais bullocks. Salers heifers sold to 263ppk from Messrs Goldie, Greenfield.

With rising costs now is the time to cash in at Lockerbie with two more upcoming sales in March before the April Fair show and sale. Buyers are once again coming from far and wide showing great support.  The next sale at Lockerbie is the Tuesday 22^nd March, please advise entries to the auctioneers.
