Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 9th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a massive entry of 500 calves with around 200 of these being grass based system calves.  Topping todays sale at £500 were two cracking Aberdeen Angus bulls calves from Messrs Sloan, Panlands Farm, with his run of 10 calves averaging £405.  Heifers topped at £425 for a British Blue heifer from Messrs Errington, Lowther Low Moor. Dairy bull calves topped at £370 for a Montbelaride from FG & SM Lough, South Lough House, Stamfordham.  All classes of calves would be easier on the week with young calves continuing the trend of being very hard to sell especially young continental which proved hardest calves to place with buyers very uneasy with rapid rising costs.
