STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 16th March 2022 Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle, this week another marvellous entry of 526 head being forward.
Despite other centres seeing their store trade becoming lethargic Borderway was once again on hand to provide producers with maximum returns for their cattle.
No fewer than 80 cattle sold for £1300 and beyond with a third of the sale selling over £1200.
Top call this week was £1600 this was shared by two vendors , firstly M/ Beattie, Shield Green, Kirklinton with a fantastic forward Lim x Bullock, this was matched by M/s Hall, Horsley Hill, Hawick with a very showy 9m old limousin Bullock.
M/s Robinson, Rowell Farm Milnthorpe lead the native cattle with Aberdeen Angus heifers selling to £1530 with Hereford and Aberdeen Angus bullocks from this home selling to £1440.
A Wallace & Co, Claycrop, Newton Stewart sold a fantastic run of Charolais and Limousin 10m old cattle to top at £1320 for a Limousin Heifer with a pair of Charolais Bullocks from this home realising £1300.
More cattle required for next weeks sale to satisfy a brimming ringside of buyers .

WEANED CALVES – With rising costs and expenses, some cattle began to look slightly harder to cash, however both bulls and weaners remain a strong trade with more numbers forward again in the thriving Ring 4.
Bulls topped at £1200 from R Graham, Greencroft, who sold others to £1160 and £1110. Simmental bullocks were up to £1060 from Messrs Boyd, Rockhallhead.
Heifers peaked at £1200 from JH Errington, Lowther Moor for a good British Blue. Limousin heifers sold to £980 from Messrs Metcalf, High Old Shield Farm, with Fleckvieh’s to £1100again from Messrs Errington.
Bullocks to £1150 from Messrs Beattie, East Highridge, Hexham and British Blues to £1140 from Messrs Lord, The Bogg.
