Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale at £2340.32 was a ten year old British Blue cast bull which weighed 1191kg and made 196.5p/kg and was consigned by Messrs Taylor, Gilts, Crosby Ravensworth bought by Owain Llyr, Rhuthun.

Topping at 230.5p/kg was a Limousin cross cow from Messrs Bousfield, Cranberry, Mallerstang which was also bought by Owain Llyr.

Messrs Huck, Sowerthwaite Farm, Austwick sold a 11 year old Limousin cross cow to make £1671.53 (855kg at 195.5p/kg)

Dairy cows sold to £1363.73 for a six year Holstein Friesian cow weighing 855kg and making 159.5p/kg from Messrs Atkinson, Waitby Farm.

Black & White cows topped at 165.5p/kg for a Holstein Frisian from Messrs Forrest, Low Rutter, Appleby.

The whole sale average for dairy and beef cows was 161.77p/kg and £1136.27.

All classes were in extreme demand and many more could easily be sold to great advantage!! Sell Live and thrive!!
