North West Limousin Club Primestock Show & Sale

At Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Monday 21st March, The North West Limousin Breeders Club held their annual show and sale of primestock in conjunction with Harrison and Hetherington’s weekly primestock sale, which had a huge entry of 41 cattle forward for show.

The pre-sale show judging was kindly sponsored by RI Stampers Haulage Ltd and the North West Limousin Club and judging was carried out with skill and panache by Mr Morgan Helliwell.

The first prize heifer and reserve Overall narrowly missing out on the Overall Champion to the British Blue heifer, was a Black heifer sired by Norman Lumberjack, she was consigned by Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse Farm and sold for 723kg, 301.5ppk or £2179 to Me Jim Mulholland Butchers, Great Orton.

Messrs Bowe, Bothel Parks consigned the first prize bullock which sold for 745kg, 262.5ppk or £1955 to Mr Les Fell.

The cow class had a large entry of 14 forward and was won by KD Harryman, Keskadale Farm selling to 681kg, 257.5ppk or £1753 to Owain Llyr.

Finally in the bull class the pick of the line up was a young bull consigned by Messrs Scott, Daltonhook which sold for 723kg, 279.5ppk or £2020. The 3^rd prize in this section was consigned by A J Ewing, Dumbretton Farm and reached a new breed centre record of £2724, or 281.5ppk for 968kg to Bowland Foods Ltd.
