Borderway Weekly Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 13^th April Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a smaller show of 311 forward.  Stronger calves would be a lot dearer on the week with younger calves being still difficult to cash.  Messrs Jackson, Clarks Farm, stole the show today with a Limousin bull calf at £560.  Messrs Lough, South Lough House was up to £530 again for a Limousin bull calf.  He also topped the Aberdeen Angus section twice at £500 and £490.  £300 was the top price Hereford today for a cracking bull from Messrs Caddy, 16 The Crescent.  Messrs Lough also topped the British Blue section at £550 and Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig was up to £545 twice.

British Blue heifers were up to £510 from Messrs Hetherington, Crookdake House for a strong heifer calf and another at £480. Messrs Johnston, Petteril Side also sold a Blue heifer again at £480 and their Angus heifers topping at £420.   Limousins from Messrs Fox, Windy Hill sold to £385 and Charolais heifers were up to £210 twice from Fluscopike Farms, Penrith.

More calves are required on a weekly basis.
