Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 20^th April Harrison & Hetherington had 1188 cattle forward at their weekly sale comprising of 592 Store Cattle, 260 store bulls and weanlings, 226 calves and 110 Pedigree Dairy Cattle in the Border & Lakeland Club Sale

STORE CATTLE – Once again plenty of cattle on offer at Borderways weekly sale of store cattle whereby a fantastic trade was seen throughout with a day’s overall average of £1219 for the 592 catalogued entry

Top overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan who achieved £1950.  Simmental crosses from Messrs Potter, Cardew House, Carlisle to £1840 and Natives peaked at £1550 from Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown.  Heifers saw a days top of £1930 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Beattie, Shield Green, Carlisle, this run of cattle averaged a staggering £1815.  Aberdeen Angus crosses sold to £1650 twice from Blackrigg Farm, again and Charolais crosses from Messrs Watson, Howrigg, Wigton to £1590, other Wigton cattle sold to £1540 topping the British Blues crosses were Seymour Farms.   Black and whites peaked at £1300 for two Holstein from Messrs Scott, Carrick Dean, Maryport and £1290 for Holstein Friesians from Messrs Harrington, West Whitrigg, Wigton.

WEANED CALVES – A larger entry forward once again with bulls up for the second week in a row. Topping at £1530 for a British Blue from Messrs Burrow, The Lodges Farm. The same home sold bulls to £1440, £1340, and £1150. Limousins to £1150 from Messrs Elliot, Hallburn Croft and £1100 from Messrs Evans of Halmyre. Aberdeen Angus bullocks sold to £1050 from Messrs Vance & Sons, Sloehabbert Farm and British Blue bullocks to £1080 from the same home. Heifers topped at £1240 for a pair again from Messrs Evans of Halmyre with Aberdeen Angus heifers selling to £1120 from Messrs Johnston of Orton Hall. Same time, Same place next week in ring number 4.
