Harrison & Hetherington held their May Day Show & Sale of store cattle when a catalogued entry of 1064 head were on offer.
Topping the sale at £3000 was the overall champion a 11 month old British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Brass, Bridge End Farm, Soulby, which was bought by Messrs Brown, & Mason, Clapham.
Our judge Mr G Amos, Leicestershire awarded the overall reserve championship to a 13 month old British Blue cross steer which sold for £1715 from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm and was bought by Messrs Wynne, Derbyshire.

Heifers also sold to £2200 for the second placed British Blue cross at 14 month old consigned by Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm and was bought by Messrs Huck, Austwick.
Messrs Sedgley, Low Bank House, Barbon sold a 13 month old British Blue cross heifer to make £2000 selling to Messrs Postlethwaite Holmrock.
Another 13 month old British Blue cross heifer sold to make £1975 from this same home selling to Messrs McAlister, Bonnybridge.
Messrs Brass, Bridge End, Soulby sold a 10 month old British Blue cross heifer to make £1900 selling to Messrs Brown & Mason, Clapham.
Steers sold to £1800 for British Blue cross from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside and was bought by D Barker, Scarborough.
Trade from start to finish was one of the dearest ever seen with a packed ringside of over 65 active buyers present from Fife to Leicestershire resulting in a steer average of £1217.66 (+£97.80) and a heifer average of £1141.96 (+£52.71)
