Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 11^th May Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of 340 calves. All classes were dearer on the week with stronger calves seeing the biggest lift and buyers travelling from as far as Wales and Aberdeenshire.  

£610 was today’s top price for an outstanding 20-month-old British Blue x bull from Messrs Watson, Millrigg. Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown sold up to £545 for British Blue bulls and Connell Farms Ltd sold up to £530 and £525 for Aberdeen Angus bulls. Friesians were in the money today topping at £250 and £245 from Messrs Harrington, Mounsey Bank. Messrs Foster, Coombe Crag topped the Limousin section at £440 with Messrs Woods, Townfoot selling up to £435 for a Limousin.

Heifer calves were serious trade topping at £555 and £550 from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown for a tremendous run of British Blue heifers. Messrs Woods, Townfoot topped the Limousin section at £480. Aberdeen Angus heifers achieved £490 twice again from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown. A great entry forward with a mixed show of calves receiving huge returns.
