MISS AMERICA TOPS AT BORDERWAY
The excellent quality of the dairy cattle at Borderway for the June monthly sale was a credit to all the consignors and buyers from across the UK appreciated the choice. Trade topped at £3400 with the average for all milkers coming to £2215 with the milking heifers averaging £2295 for over 100 heifers.
Balcurvie Silver Missy America topped the trade at £3400, she was consigned by Balcurvie Holsteins from Fife. She was sired by Seagull-Bay Silver and traced back to Staffordshire Miss America. Sixteen heifers from this home sold to average £2412 including Balcurvie Rager Red Penelope who sold for £2700.
The highest average went to the Baillie family from Hillhead Farm, in Lanarkshire with six heifers averaging £2620. Topping this consignment was a daughter Rozzer who was giving 43kgs another awesome uddered heifer from this home sired by Wiltor Bestman sold for £2750.
The Wreaywood herd sold five powerful framed cows and heifers to average £2566 topping at £2700 for a daughter of De-Su Toronto.
Milking cows topped at £2800 for Errolston Robin Ayr who was consigned by the Davidson family from Gretna. She was fresh in her third lactation and was giving 50kgs.
The Williamson family from The Howes farm near Appleby sold a tremendous group of British Friesian cows to average £2475 and topped at £2700 for a second lactation cow.
The dispersal of the Keirmains Holstein and Ayrshire herd started today with a consignment of dry cows that would have been too close to calving on the 22nd June when the whole herd will be dispersed along with the youngstock. This fine group of dry cows topped at £2250 for Keirmains Supersire Roselind.
A diverse group of cross bred in calf heifers both Montbelirade and Jersey sold well to average £1450 and topped at £1800 for a Holstein Jersey cross heifer due to the Limousin for July, she was consigned by Robbie Scott from Ayr.
British Friesian in calf heifers topped at £1800 to average £1700 all consigned by Mr Bland from Brampton.
Cumrue Farming sold 59 heifer calves Born in March from their Spring calving Irish Friesian and Jersey cross bred herd. They topped at £330 on several occasions to average £227.
