Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 22nd June Harrison & Hetherington had 1335 cattle forward at their weekly sale comprising of 450 Store Cattle, 215 store bulls and weanlings, 348 calves and 322 head of Holstein & Ayrshire cattle from the Dispersal of the Keirmains Herd  behalf of M Young & Sons, Dumfriesshire

STORE CATTLE – A fantastic entry of 450 store cattle forward for mid June sale seeing trade peaking at £1980 for a Limousin cross steer from weekly vendors Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth who’s run of 6 cattle averaged a staggering £1788.  Messrs Beattie, Ratlinggate Farm, Carlisle sold two steers to £1820 and averaged £1701.43 for 7 cattle.  Traditional bred cattle sold to £1550 for two steers from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle.

Heifers peaked at £1670 for two Limousin crosses from Messrs Beattie, Ratlinggate.  Messrs McKie, Lawrence Holme, Wigton sold their best Dairy bred British Blue to £1560.  Dairy bred steers peaked at £1450 for a pen of 4 Friesians from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle and £1400 from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Carlisle.

WEANED CALVES –  Records smashed in Ring 4 with an 11 month old Limousin bull from Messrs Hall, Baggarah selling to £2400.  Other bulls sold to £1270 and £1135 from Messrs Taylor, High Whinnow Farm.   Aberdeen Angus bulls sold to £1190 again from Messrs Taylor.  A mixed show on offer of bullocks and heifers were met with a huge ring side of buyers with all types selling really well.  British Blue bullocks were up to £990 from Messrs Kirkby, Ashley Grove.  Heifers sold to £940 from Messrs Walton, Penpeugh.  More numbers required next week to meet demand.
