On Wednesday 29th June Harrison & Hetherington had 1399 cattle forward at their weekly sale comprising of 491 Store Cattle, 328 store bulls and weanlings, 314 calves and 266 head of Ayrshire cattle from the Dispersal of the Carnell Herd behalf of G & R Templeton, Pocknave, Ayrshire
STORE CATTLE – Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of 500 strong store cattle. Numbers remain buoyant in Borderway with a combined entry of 1399 head across all sections. Store cattle remain a fantastic trade with 81 active accounts purchasing this week, with 204 successful purchasers auction wide. Leading the section at £1760 was a Charolais x heifer from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth who sold another at £1740. Limousin sold to £1720 again for a heifer from Messrs Metcalfe, Littlewater, Penrith. Bullocks sold to £1660 for a Simmental cross from Messrs Robinson, Rowell. Natives to £1500 for Aberdeen Angus x bullocks from Messrs Coulthard, Laversdale.

WEANED CALVES – Once again Ring 4 proves to be the best place to sell weaned cattle with an entry of 328 forward. From start to finish Ring 4 was packed to the rafters with active bidders. Top price of the day was paid for an 8 month old Limousin heifer form Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside, Kirtlebridge topping at £1760. Bulls once again sold very well with a very busy ringside ensuring a top price bull of £1550 from a Limousin from Messrs Eve, Stubbsgill, Wigton. Bullocks topped at £1180 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Thompson, Edenbanks.
