Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 13th July Harrison & Hetherington had 537 cattle forward at their weekly sale comprising of 180 Store Cattle, 103 store bulls and weanlings and 254 calves.

STORE CATTLE – A much smaller entry of only 180 Store cattle due to the weather and the Great Yorkshire Show.  Despite the very low numbers trade continued to excel with trade looking sharper on the week seeing a day’s top of £1860 and £1850 for Limousin bullocks from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth.  Charolais to £1540 from Messrs Kyle, Spout Bank, Brampton.  British Blues to £1460 from Messrs Story, Bankend, Carlisle and Aberdeen Angus to £1410 also from Messrs Story. 

Heifers sold to £1670 and £1650 from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, for Charolais and British Blues.  Simmental from the same home to £1580 and Limousins to £1570 from Messrs Faulder, Thistledown, Carlisle

WEANED CALVES – Despite a quieter week at Borderway, trade for both bulls and weanling cattle remain strong.   Bulls topped at £1250 from Messrs Spencer, Gatra Farm for a Charolais.  Limousin bullocks sold to £1090 from Messrs M Cousin, The Laws and £1040 from Messrs Hall, Walltown. Ayrshire heifers sold to £1320 from Messrs Lawson, Middleton Mill House.   British Blue heifers sold to £1160 from Messrs Charnock, Millholme.  A larger entry on show next week in Ring 4.
