Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Sale

NUGGET HITS GOLD

The July Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Sale was packed with quality cows and heifers all full of milk with many bred from prolific and highly valued cow families. Trade topped at 3600gns with the average for milking heifers coming to £2442. The sale included the first sale to dispersal of the Inglewood herd.

Dugdale Nutrition sponsored the show and Mark Whitehurst judged the classes. The overall champion went to Warnelview Doc Nugget which sold for3600gns to Messrs Davidson, Muirhouse, Lockerbie This very stylish two year old was classified very good 85.

Reserve Champion was won by Stowbeck Ranger Mavis consigned by Skirwith Hall Farms she went on to sell for 2600gns to Messrs Forrest, Hurkledale Farm, Annan.

The second top price going to Bankview Cyprus Star at 2900gns selling to Frank Talbot from Lower Alston, Ribchester followed closely at 2800gns for Boclair Rapid Marie going back to the Denmire Maries selling to Messrs Millar, Woodhousehill, Kirkpatrick Fleming.

With a in calf heifer from David McMiken, Ernespie selling to 2600gns for Ernespie Excalibur Squaw going back in her pedigree to the Richaven Raider Squaw cow being purchased by Messrs Hastwell, The Buildings, Kaber.

The Inglewood dispersal topped at 3000gns for Inglewood Zoom Countess Red selling to Martin Dixon Smallthwaite Farm, Penrith.
