STORE CATTLE – A much larger entry of 400 Store cattle forward seeing vendors returns way over expectations as a large ringside of buyers were evident. Topping the sale at £1950 was an outstanding Limousin cross steer from weekly vendor Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth. The same vendor also sold British Blue steers to £1820. Aberdeen Angus crosses sold to £1670 from Messrs Coulthard, Brisco, Carlisle. Luings to £1670 from Messrs Kinstrey, Knottyholm, Langholm and Salers to £1610 from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm. Heifers peaked at £1850 for two super Limousin crosses from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle and £1830 from Messrs Stamper, Rose farm. British Blue crosses from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna to £1450 and Aberdeen Angus to £1350 and £1340 from Messrs Bland, The Flatt, Brampton. Black and Whtie steers sold extremely well to a day’s top of £1245 for a pen of 8 from Merssrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle.

WEANED CALVES – Weather Cools Down, Ring 4 Heats Up. Both trade and quality up on the week. Bulls and weanling cattle take a big rise in trade. Bulls topped at £1455 for a Simmental from Messrs Hague of Whitehaven. The same good home also had another Simmental bull at £1420. Limousin bulls sold to £1440 twice for a fantastic run from Messrs Batty, Flimby Hall, the same good farm also sold bulls to £1360 and £1350. Limousin bullocks topped at £1100 from Edmondson, Whalloway. Fleckveih bullocks reached heights of £1060 from Prescott farm as did Aberdeen Angus bullocks which also topped at £1060 from Huddleston of the Green. British Blue bullocks sold to £1000 again from Prescott farm. Heifers sold to £1280 from Thompson, Eden Bank. Messrs Nixon of Longlea had Limousin heifers to £1160 and £1090.
