Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 27^th July Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly Calf Sale at Borderway with a show of 330 calves forward.  Young heifer calves would see no change but all classes of bull calves were dearer.

Messrs Ogden, Pears Ghyll Farm, Penrith topped todays bull trade at £535 three times with three outstanding British Blue bull calves.  Aberdeen Angus calves saw a colossal trade today topping at £500 from Messrs Irving, Mein Bank and Messrs Raven, Crookdake seeing £465. Messrs Ireland, Morley Hill topped at £485 for a tremendous suckler bred Limousin calf.  Black & Whites topped at £315 twice from Messrs Morley, Wadderdale and Friesians were to £250 from Messrs Harrington, Mounsey Bank; Ayrshires topped at £260 from Messrs Sanderson, Thackthwaite Hall for an Ayrshire bull

Young heifers were harder to cash today but nevertheless came away well on the whole.  Top price heifer was £480 from Messrs Ogden, Pears Gill and Messrs Ireland, Morley Hill topped the Angus section at £445.  Messrs Ireland also topped the Limousin section at £455 again for a suckler bred calf
