The first British Friesian Day at Borderway attracted both sellers and buyers from across the UK and Ireland.  The quality on offer was exceptionally high with super attractive animals bred from pedigree with oceans of milk, impressive classifications and outstanding longevity.  Trade topped at 4,400gns for one of the standout pedigrees with milking animals averaging £2300.

Nerewater British Friesians

Opening the sale was a very nice group of mikers, in-calf heifers and bulling heifers from the Nerewater herd owned by Richard bell from near Wigton.  The first lot was Nerewater Butterfly 5 who was milking in her fifth lactation and had recently classified Excellent 93 points, her pervious two lactations had been over 10000kgs and she sold for 2,100gns to Mr Irving from near Wigton with this milking group averaging £2415.

Lismulligian British Friesians

Probably the best group of heifers to ever sell from the Lismulligan herd was consigned by the Lawson family who farm in Fife.  This tidy group of bulling and maiden heifers averaged almost £1100 and topped the overall trade at 4,300gns for a choice of two full sisters sired by Lakemead Jingle and bred from the two time UK Dairy Expo Grand Champion Lismulligan Priscilla 41.  High Hedley Hope Farm from Durham purchased this lot choosing Lismulligan Priscilla 63.

Gemini British Friesians

Ava Malt owner of the Gemini herd from Norfolk consigned four show heifers and topped at 1,850gns for Gemini Ben Rosie Red.  She was a stylish Red & White heifer and was Reserve Champion Calf at the National Calf show in 2021.  She now joins the Rye Close herd of the Moscrop family.

Inch GTW Daphne 4 sold in absentee selling for 3,900gns to Mr Dunn from Cornwall.  She was consigned by Inch Genetics from N. Ireland and was a sister to the top proven sire Inch Dungannan at genus ABS.   Her Excellent dam was sired by Lakemead Pinnacle and was the dam of six sons that were proven by either Genus or Cogent.
